China Renewable Energy Institute (formerly the Chinese Solar Energy Society and renamed with approval by the Ministry of Civil Affairs in Oct 2005) established in September 6th , 1979 is an academic institution nationwide, which belongs to the China Association for Science and Technology, registers in the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It consist of eight professional committees, they are: Heat Utilization Professional Committee, Photovoltaic Professional Committee, Wind Energy Professional Committee, Biomass Energy Professional Committee, Photochemical Professional Committee, Professional Committee of Hydrogen, Solar Energy in Construction Professional Committee and Professional Committee of ocean energy.
With the guidance of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, Biomass Energy Professional Committee responsible for conducting activities in biomass area and duties on behalf of governmental departments concerned. Relying on the Chinese Academy of Sciences Guangzhou Institute of Energy, it has two liaison officers in Beijing and Guangzhou,150 staff whom ranks in levels of director,deputy director and member. Experts from biomass research, designing, manufacture, utilization, teaching and management departments, with the technologies in bio-energy resources, bio-conversion, thermo-chemical conversion and use of biochemical industry have formed to be the main researching strenth in biomass energy field.
Its goal is to play as the window of external academic exchanges and technical cooperation, the bridge and link between government and enterprise,to build good relationships between domestic and foreign counterparts, to make conjunctive efforts with brother professional committees, mass scientific and technicist so that to form a national research alliance,to improve our biomass energy technology and to make contribution in the development of biomass energy industry. The Biomass Energy Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society honestly welcome enterprises, researching institutions and technicist engaged in biomass home and abroad to join in and work together to promote China’s biomass energy science and technology.
